Welcome to Dave’d and Confused
Where the streets spill their secrets, and not a single influencer is in sight. No motivational quotes in neon, no staged coffee cups, just raw, unfiltered urban storytelling.
If you were expecting gritty crime scenes fit for a thriller novel cover—sorry, wrong gig.
That’s work.
This?
This is me, unfiltered.
A culmination of my photography passions all in one place!
What is Dave’d and Confused?
A passion project born from necessity, that and a 4 year battle with long COVID.
Think jet lag meets dementia.
However instead of giving up and sitting in my boxers watching daytime TV, I’m out there photographing abandoned street corners like some kind of street art necromancer.
This is street photography without the people—because, let’s be real, I don’t really “do” people, I much prefermy camera for company.
Instead, I chase the bleakness, and the glorious absurdity of urban landscapes, where I document the things people leave behind, the weird messages scrawled on walls, and the accidental poetry of decay.
Call it minimalist, call it moody, call it “why is that bin so photogenic?”—whatever it is, it’s mine.
Why Graffiti & Minimalism?
First and foremost it has always been my ultimate photography passion, however now it is partially down to necessity of my health.
….. but Graffiti is about rebellion, conversation and unadulterated chaos…… and anyone who knows me I am sure will agree also sums me up as a person.
Zoom into the small details and you’ll find moments of pure design genius and I just LOVE that.
My photography style strips it all back: bold colour, stark emptiness, and that magic intersection of bleak and often hilarious.
It’s street photography with all the unnecessary bits removed—my own feng shui approach to urban art…….If it doesn’t spark joy, it might at least spark a wry chuckle.
The Legacy (AKA: What’s the Point?)
I have no idea, and that’s exactly the point.
Actually that isn’t true
Unlike my crime and thriller book cover work, this isn’t for a client—this is for me.
Where will this project go?
I really don’t know…… Maybe it’ll be a book, an exhibition, or just a weirdly specific collection of images that live on long after I do, confusing future generations.
Whatever it becomes, it will be unmistakably mine….. for a change!
*A Note for the Strugglers
If you’re dealing with an invisible illness, brain fog, or just the overwhelming sense of non-existence……... I see you.
Remember you can still create, you can still adapt, and you can still leave your mark (even if is with pixels and not with spray paint - let’s stay on the right side of the law).
Sometimes, the best art comes from limitations - I am banking on it!!
Work with what you’ve got, shoot smarter, and embrace the chaos.
Or, at the very least, embrace a solid nap schedule.
So, if you love street photography that’s more about places than people, minimalism with a side salad of attitude in the urban abyss—stick around.
This is Dave’d and Confused—fragments from the streets, with a wink, a smirk, and probably a sarcastic eye-roll.
