GRAFFITI LOUNGE

A place to kick back, relax and marvel in Urban Culture

You really are not a photographer if you don’t like photographing Street Art / Graffiti - FACT

If I could only photograph one thing for the rest of my life

Graffiti would be it - HANDS DOWN

I have to admit I have a total fetish for it and cannot walk past any type of Street Art without taking time to capture it at its best

Sometimes this means photographing it as a full piece, but quite often I like to concentrate on small aspects - creating “Art from Art”

The irony of many the pieces I place in front of my camera does not pass me by, with their sharp whit and often anti establishment slogans they often make me laugh out loud

There seems to an acceptance of its place in many cities now - many of which actively encourage it and even commission it to help soften and “visualise the urban environment”

Here is a small selection of what I have captured over the years a collection that grows by the day

Here is a small glossary of Graffiti styles

A what is what and what is not

Tagging: A stylized signature often mistaken as scribble

Throw Up: I more complex version of tagging and often more colourful

Back to Back: Graffiti from one end of a wall to another

Paste Up: A drawing or photocopy attached using wallpaper paste then often “worked on” to finesse it in situ

Sticker: Often referred to as "labels" or "slaps
